The
Arts and Crafts movement of the early 20th century, in reaction to the
design excesses and mass production of the industrial age, emphasized
design that was simple, handcrafted and true to the nature of the
materials from which it was made.
The
creative influences of designers and artisans such as Frank Lloyd Wright,
C.R. Mackintosh, Charles and Henry Greene, Dirk Van Erp, Gustav Stickley
and Louis Comfort Tiffany, established an American art form which embraced
organic architecture, handcrafted furnishings, and fine lighting united in
harmonious style that encouraged a simpler lifestyle and a return to
basics. |

In
the late 1980's, a Pasadena artisan, who had grown up surrounded by the
"ultimate bungalows" of the Greene brothers, believed that the
time had come again to embrace the design and lifestyle promoted by the
Arts and Crafts movement and created what became "Arroyo
Craftsman". |

What makes Arroyo Craftsman special?
Arroyo prides themselves on their attention to detail, hand finishing, and
quality. Because of that, and an extensive variety of choices in metal
finish and glass combinations, they
offer the finest quality and greatest selection in Arts and Crafts
inspired lighting available.
The beauty of
Arroyo's product
is more than skin deep. Their fixtures are made of heavier gauge brass
than is common, giving them a more substantial appearance and increased
durability. The rivets they use on many of their fixtures provide both
beauty and additional structural integrity. Arroyo's glass panels are
installed with both retaining clips and silicone to ensure that they are
secured and won't rattle in the wind. |

Arroyo
Craftsman's hand applied finishes
are the best in the industry because they take the time to let them
"mature". Their unique verdigris patina is the result of an
intensive three day process resulting in a complex and naturally aged
appearance. All of Arroyo Craftsman's hand applied metal finishes will continue to
mature and change with time. Arroyo offer eight glass and
two mica choices. Combine them with your selection from one of their
eleven metal finishes to create the fixture that meets your personal
needs. Each Arroyo Craftsman fixture is custom made, just for you. |
