Located in a highly industrialized section of Cerritos, California, the exterior of the building that houses Fredrick Ramond, Inc. is not unlike many of its neighbors. The inside, however, resembles a post-modern coliseum – elegant and airy, with high ceilings, stainless steel railings, acrylic accents, stone, marble, and of course, perfectly controlled lighting. This is a true manufacturing facility – everything from raw materials to multi-step finishing is done under one roof.

Fredrick (Ramond) Glassman, founder, designer and President of Fredrick Ramond, has a passion for turning ideas into reality that has driven his company’s success for 40 years. The ideas, like the man, are always evolving.

Fredrick Ramond, Inc. is perhaps one of the best-known “names” in the business, the lighting industries equivalent of Halston, Chanel, or Oscar de la Renta. And like those famous couture design houses, which have continued to flourish through the decades, Fredrick Ramond still maintains a leadership position in lighting design.

Staying on top of a factory that manufactures lamps, chandeliers, sconces, furniture and accessories from raw materials, is not an easy task. All Fredrick Ramond Lighting sheet metal processes, tube fabrication, welding and metal finishing are performed at the Fredrick Ramond Lighting facility – nothing goes out to a jobber. Much of the work is still done by hand – which gives Fredrick Ramond the flexibility to manufacture a wide variety of products using steel, brass and stainless steel. Having a machine shop on the premises is an advantage that has no parallel. It allows Fredrick Ramond to create their own tooling. They even incorporate a computer-guided laser cutter to give them added flexibility. A lot of other companies would send this type of work out to be done.

Because of the excellent craftsmanship, customer demand is high. Fredrick Ramond also does all the finishing on premises, by using a powder-coating process for all the painted finishes.
