About: FIRE FARM, Inc.
Company
History:
In October of
1991 Ben Goldstone and Adam Pollock founded Fire Farm. Together they share
a vision of Fire Farm Studios as a collaborative forging of creative
talents. They are pulling together glass makers, sculptors, metal workers,
architects and designers with whom they share a common value to design and
create simply beautiful, hand touched pieces. Fire Farm is
in the process of developing a situation that will provide an ongoing
supply of beautiful, unique, and salable items, while providing local
artists with an ongoing outlet for their creativity. As we build relations
with merchants around the country we see a hunger for innovative new
products that are made in the United States. Simultaneously we have found
many artisans in our area who are looking to make a living using their
artistic skills. Fire Farm plans to use
the broad distribution of Fire Farm products as a conduit for a variety of
products designed by a number of artists in a myriad of mediums. This will
provide a single source for fresh products. It will also provide artists
with an outlet for their work, and encourage the further development of
American design in the 90's and beyond. Fire Farm meets and works with other local
artists and designers on a regular basis. Fire Farm began releasing the products
of these relationships to the public in 1993. In addition to
the standard product line, the Fire Farm design team has developed
exclusive product for a number of American retailers, hotels and
restaurants. We invite you to work with us to develop exclusive designs
for you needs.
Materials:
Fire Farm has a range of different designs in a variety of materials.
Fire Farm's
Mesh Collection features shades of Metal Mesh - Wire fabric woven from
different metals. They use Copper, Bronze, Brass and Steel. The bases have a
hand done rust patina finish that is unique to each piece. Fire Farm is headed
in a new direction. They are exploring fabrics such as Hemp muslin and Dupioni silks.
The company is constantly looking for fresh materials to work with.
Design
Features:
Fire Farm hand builds each lamp conscious of the subtle interplay of light and
shadow that profoundly influences our emotions. The Mesh shades on their
pieces develop a unique warm glow that creates a rich and romantic
environment. Fire Farm is concerned with the quality of light - consequently
most of their pieces feature Dimmers that let you control the amount of
light through the shades. Each rust patina base is unique, each jeweled
pull cord on the Femme Fatale lamp is different. We think of each of Fire
Farm's
designs as lighting sculptures.
